I Had A Secret for Seventeen Years is the redemptive life story of Tori Shaw, centered around her abortion as a teenager. She spent years covered by guilt and shame while enduring continual abandonment and rejection. Childhood experiences taught her to hide hardship, so she silently dealt with depression, fear, anxiety, self-loathing, and addictions. After hiding her dark secret for seventeen years, Tori shares her story with the world. A woman who once walked in fear and self-doubt is now willing to go wherever God wants her to go. Through Tori’s story, God builds a ministry that helps abortion-minded women choose life for their babies and shares God’s forgiveness and love with post-abortive women. I Had a Secret for Seventeen Years enables the reader to see a post-abortive woman come full circle and embrace the world of possibilities God makes available to those who are willing. .
The book is also available at Barnes and Noble and any online book retailer!
I'm not a big book reader, but I finished this one in less than 2 days. A wonderful story of redemption and the healing power of our mighty Savior. Thanks to the author and her husband for being vulnerable enough to share their story so that it can encourage and inspire others! I am absolutely positive that it will.
I could not put this book down and completed reading it in less than 24 hours. That has never happened before. I love books and own many books, but I don't often read them in their entirety. The book is such a testimony of faith in the love and guidance of God. It is a valuable life story.
I was so excited to read this book and im so glad i did! Tori is such an inspiration! I felt like i was living her life with her (i could relate to some of her thoughts and feelings and activities as well), and her book is just a reminder of what an awesome God we serve. That no matter what your secret may be, God loves you regardless and has a plan for you! A must read!
This book was so good I didn't put it down. I had it read in 24hrs. It is a must read for someone who has been through an abortion, you are not alone in this turmoil, or for someone who needs a better understanding of how a mom feels when she makes that choice. Sometimes that decision is made for her by someone else. More so the redemption that comes once you are forgiven. Our God restores and uses things that were meant for evil and turns them for good. Baby Taylor is saving babies just like her.
This book is the real life story of Tori Shaw, founder of Not Forgotten Ministries. She holds nothing back in her raw depiction of her tumultuous life experiences as well as her haunting abortion experience. This is a redemptive story, as well, that serves as a great reminder that our mistakes don't have to define us. In fact, they can serve as fuel to perpetuate good in our communities and our society as a whole. Her faith in God is strong and His presence is evident throughout her life. She also makes a great point about post abortive women being key in pro-life advocacy. I highly recommend this book.
This book gave me greater insight into the actual experience of abortion, and the long-term effects it can have on women and families. Tori is extremely transparent, and reading her book was an honor. She has been through much suffering and loss, but it has not destroyed her because she found true healing and hope. She demonstrates how God will use all our circumstances for his glory and our good if we allow him. He turned Tori's darkest moments into a life-giving ministry because she stepped out in faith and trusted him. For years she hid the story of her abortion, but when she finally accepted Christ's freedom and told her story, she found that she could not stop telling it. Now many lives have been saved, and many women have found healing through Tori!
I could NOT put this book down! I read this under 24 hours!
This book DOES pull you in as you read it! It feels like you’re walking with Tori throughout her life and experiencing and relating with her as you let your vulnerability unfold.
This book holds raw truth, vulnerability, inner and outward struggles that EVERYONE can relate to. I found myself relating with the writer more than ever, crying over pages as I read.
This book is WORTH your time, whether to relate, inspire, challenge and/or heal you. Let the Lord speak to you as you read.
“If post-abortive women are bold enough to expose the truth about abortion and what it really does to women, we can change the opinion of our generation.”
